How to clean an essential oil diffuser?

It is recommanded to clean its essential oil diffuser once or twice a month depending on use. Here are 3 simple and effective cleaning methods:

1- Clean an essential oil diffuser with 90% household alcohol or rubbing alcohol.

One of the most frequently used methods of cleaning your essential oil diffuser is to use 90% household alcohol, commonly known as rubbing alcohol.

Close and unplug the diffuser.
Empty the water tank and then add about 15 ml of alcohol to the tank.
Switch on the diffuser for 10 minutes.
Empty the tank and allow to dry.

This method is excellent for ultrasonic diffusers but also for nebulizers. It removes essential oil residues clinging to the glassware walls. However, if there is still persistent residue, it may be beneficial to diffuse a mixture of hybrid lavender essential oil and alcohol, with the same duration as before. When the operation is complete, the liquid should be discarded and the inside of the nozzle wiped with a soft, clean cloth.

2- Clean an essential oil diffuser with 15% household vinegar.

The second method is identical to the first method, simply replace the household alcohol with 15% acetic acid household vinegar. The household vinegar is also very effective in removing the scale deposits that clog the tablet of the ultrasonic diffusers. To do this, simply :

Close and unplug the diffuser.
Add two equal amounts of vinegar and water to the tank.
Turn on the diffuser for 30 minutes to remove residue.
When the operation is completed, the liquid should be discarded and the inside wiped with a clean soft cloth.

3- Clean an essential oil diffuser with a commercial product.

Finally, some suppliers of ultrasonic diffusers guarantee their products only if they have been cleaned with their cleaning agent. The brand Le comptoir Aroma offers a cleaning solution for diffusers. The instructions for use with this solution are as follows:

Close and unplug the ultrasonic diffuser.
Pour 30 drops of solution in your diffuser tank.
Allow to diffuse for 5 minutes.
Empty the excess before reusing your diffuser.

What should I do if there are left over residues in my glass nebulizer that are difficult to remove?

Finally, if residues of essential oils remain on the glass walls of your nebulizer diffuser, repeat Method 1 until the residues are completely dissolved.
